“Drowning is Silent”… Pool alarms make a loud commotion when someone or something has fallen in the pool.
There are many types of pool alarms that will sound the alert. We have all the details about a few different pool alarms and hopefully help you decide which one is right for your situation.

While a swimming pool alarm is a necessary element for pool safety, it is important to understand that it should be considered the last line of defense; pool alarms are not a stand-alone pool safety tool.

Every pool should have a safety system in place, which should include physical barriers, such as non-climbable fences with self-latching gates, a safety cover or automatic cover, safety net, or other means of blocking unauthorized access to the pool.

And of course, the cornerstone to any pool safety system is proper adult supervision. For more information regarding the best options for creating a safety system, visit the poolsafely.gov and their Pool Safety page.

To explore pool alarms, let the experts at Aloha Pools help you decide the right safety system for you and your family. Call 501-753-POOL.

SWIMMING…Rehabbing an Injury, Building Endurance, Increasing Muscle Strength or Improving Cardio-Vascular Fitness

If you’re looking for a full-body workout for cardiovascular health that’s easy on the joints, jump in the pool.

You can swim your entire life, regardless of age, strength, or almost any physical handicap. Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular fitness. It can serve as a cross-training element to your regular workouts. Before a land workout, you can use the pool for a warm-up session. Swimming with increasing effort to gradually increase your heart rate and stimulate your muscle activity is easily accomplished in the water. After a land workout, swimming a few laps can help you cool-down, move blood through your muscles to help them recover, and help you relax as you glide through the water.

Maybe you are a runner, training on a regular basis, and want to find an activity that keeps your heart rate up but takes some of the impact stress off of your body. Perhaps you have been doing some other form of land exercise, and now an injury prevents you from putting weight on a knee or ankle. Swimming can help you. Kicking workouts, water aerobics, pool running, or a regular swimming workout can all give you a great exercise session without the weight of your body pounding you with each move.

Not confident of your skills? Consider taking a swim class—there are plenty available for adults—to learn proper technique for maximum benefit.
